Not too long after Ryan gave me my soda, I was ready for another.
” Ryan, my friend, how about another soda?”
Ryan stumbled over and took my glass from my hand.
” No problem Lace.”
I laughed.
” It’s Grace.”
I turned around to say something to Aly when I suddenly felt really dizzy. I stumbled over to the stairs and sat down. Aly came over laughing.
” Too much to drink?”
I shook my head.
” I’ve only had a soda.”
Josh walked over and slid his arm around Aly.
” Please, Ryan so spiked your drink.”
My eyes widened.
” He did what?”
Aly laughed.
” Oh come on Grace, have some fun!”
I stood up.
” No, Aly, I won’t!”
Aly frowned.
” Grace, you’re screaming.”
” I don’t care! My head hurts so much, I’m starving and…..”
Something happened making me fall to my knees.
” Grace!”
Aly knelt down.
” Grace, what’s wrong?”
I slowly looked at her and handed her my phone.
” Call Kevin.”
When Aly took the phone from my hand, I blacked out.
I slowly opened my eyes and all I saw was white. I quickly sat up.
” Ah, you’re awake.”
I looked to my right.
” Who are you?”
” I’m Dr. Roy.”
” Where is everyone? What’s wrong? Why am I here?”
Dr. Roy’s face fell.
” I’ll let your family in now.”
He walked out and a few minutes later Mom, Dad, Nick and Kevin came in. They had been crying.
” Where’s Joe and Frankie?”
Nick sat on the edge of my bed.
” At home.”
I looked at his face and I knew something bad was happening.
” Nick….. what’s wrong?”
He chocked back a sob and looked at Mom and Dad. Mom nodded and Nick looked back at me.
” Grace….. you have diabetes.”
